design with a story

Good designs tell a story—and every great story starts with a spark of inspiration. For me, it’s the little moments: a bold idea from a client meeting, a splash of color in the world around me, or a late-night sketch that refuses to stay on the page. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve learned that design isn’t just about making things look good—it’s about crafting narratives that resonate, adapt, and inspire.

Whether I’m designing for a brand or bringing a personal project to life, each piece has its own story to tell, and I’m here to make sure it’s unforgettable.

Sola Logo and Website: Dancing in the Sunlight

In a vibrant corner of the city, a group of dancers prepared to take the stage. As they twirled and leaped, their movements painted circles of light in the air, golden and warm like the sun's rays. These dancers, drawn from all corners of Latin America, carried their stories in every step—a testament to their shared heritage and joy.

The logo for SOLA captures this energy. The sun radiates outward from the heart of the 'O,' a glowing celebration of art and culture. Like the dancers’ fluid movements, the script font flows with grace and vitality, a perfect mirror of their vibrant expressions. Each circle of light is a promise: to bring heritage alive through motion and to inspire those who witness its brilliance.

Reya Logo: The Lotus That Blooms

There was once a lotus flower that thrived against all odds. Growing in a quiet corner of the world, it pushed its way through murky waters, standing tall and proud under the sun. It became a symbol of resilience—proof that beauty and strength can bloom even in the toughest of conditions.

This lotus found its way into the Reya logo, where it nestles gently against a lowercase 'r,' merging the natural with the modern. Purple hues were chosen to reflect the compassion and wisdom of healthcare professionals, while the sleek design embraces a contemporary, forward-thinking spirit. Every petal whispers a story of renewal, reminding us that Reya’s mission is rooted in guiding people through life’s most difficult moments to find their strength once more.

Milt’s Extra Innings - Logo and Website Design

On the surface, Milt’s Extra Innings was a deli inspired by America’s favorite pastime, but beneath its baseball-themed charm lay a mission that truly made it extraordinary. This offshoot of Milt’s BBQ for the Perplexed didn’t just serve sandwiches—it provided a place of purpose and opportunity, hiring young adults with special needs to be part of its team.

The logo captured the spirit of the game: a baseball, complete with its iconic red stitches, encircled by "Milt’s Extra Innings" in a clean, timeless sans-serif font. It reflected not just the deli’s love for the sport, but also its straightforward, classic identity—an approachable place for everyone.

The website extended this story. Visitors could explore an interactive collection of the owner’s personal memorabilia, each item holding a tale of history and pride. A signed jersey, a vintage ball, or a weathered bat offered a glimpse into the passion behind the deli, while the site subtly wove in the human element that made Milt’s truly special.

Though the deli has since closed, its impact continues to ripple outward, much like the crack of a bat sending a ball soaring into the stands. Milt’s Extra Innings was more than a deli—it was a community, a symbol of inclusion, and proof that with heart and purpose, even the smallest innings can change the game.

La Selva Urbana - Logo and Website

The logo for La Selva Urbana captures the essence of the urban jungle—dynamic, interconnected, and full of life. At its core, the uppercase U represents the city's structures, evoking the tall buildings and steady foundations of urban life. Within the left side of the U, the winding S-shaped swiggle symbolizes a path or road, reflecting the journey of navigating city life while maintaining balance and wellness.

On the right edge of the U, the words La Selva Urbana rise vertically, echoing the verticality of skyscrapers and the layered complexity of a bustling metropolis. The S-shaped curve also nods to the wild, non-linear elements of a jungle (selva), representing the unpredictability and vibrancy of life. Like a snake weaving through dense greenery, it reminds us that growth and mental wellness are not always straightforward—they are paths we carve with resilience and adaptability.

Together, these elements weave a narrative of harmony between the structured and the wild, the planned and the unpredictable—a reflection of the urban jungle where mindfulness and mental health thrive amidst the chaos.

Unidas por Una Infancia Feliz - Logo and Website

The logo for Unidas por una Infancia Feliz embodies the warmth, guidance, and connection that define the relationship between caregivers and children. At the heart of the design, the linear depiction of a woman’s hand (nanny) holding the child’s hand grasping her index finger symbolizes the nurturing bond and trust that shapes a child’s early experiences. The simplicity of the lines reflects the innocence and creativity of a child’s first drawings.

Underneath are overlapping circles, evoking the ideas of movement, unity, and togetherness. These circles represent the interconnected support system that caregivers, families, and communities provide to create a joyful, secure foundation for children. The overlapping design highlights the collaboration and shared responsibility in fostering happiness and growth in childhood.
